What does rPLA, rPetg, rTitan, TPU mean?

rPLA, rPetg etc. are the names of the different materials (plastics) our products are made of.

TPU
Urethane-based thermoplastic elastomer (TPU) belongs to the group of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), which act similarly to rubber. TPU is a plastic with high flexibility and long durability. It combines the properties of rubber and plastic and enables the production of elastic and technically resilient parts. The different elastomers have different properties depending on their chemical composition. This means that their areas of application are diverse. TPU can be used for sports shoes as well as medical devices.

rPETG
is recycled from PETG, a thermoplastic made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and glycol (G). You probably know it as a drink bottle or in the form of fiber clothing such as jackets and jerseys. Most foil for packaged food is also made of this material. PET plastic is made from natural gas or petroleum and can be recycled. To produce PETG, the raw material PET was modified with glycol, which reduces the melting temperature and viscosity. The viscosity of a substance commonly refers to its viscosity - the higher this value, the more viscous it is. A highly viscous substance, on the other hand, is practically not liquid.

rPLA
is recycled PLA made from corn starch, sugar cane and agricultural waste such as whey. In addition to its use in 3D printing, PLA is also used in the food industry, e.g. for packaging. It is also used for diapers, bubble wrap, hygiene products and office supplies. The low flammability and density compared to other plastics make this material attractive for many other purposes such as functional clothing, tea bags, flower foil or drinking cups. Although PLA is often advertised as a bioplastic, this is only partly true. In order to completely biodegrade larger quantities of this material, an industrial composting facility with the appropriate conditions is required. Self-printed PLA components do not belong in the home composter.

rTitan
is a recycled ABS filament that contains amorphous thermoplastics made from mineral oil. Due to its versatility and excellent mechanical properties, this copolymer is one of the most popular plastics of our time. ABS (rTitan) consists of three different monomers acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. The ratio of the individual substances significantly influences the mechanical properties of the ABS material. The elastic and stable structure of this material is particularly suitable for parts that have to withstand high mechanical stress. The world's best-known ABS products include LEGO® building blocks.

Which material is suitable for which purpose?

TPU
is ideal for printing specialty seals, tires, phone cases and tool parts. Components produced with this material in a 3D printer can be compressed and quickly return to their original shape. TPU filaments offer numerous advantages: The surface of the printed models remains intact and is resistant to many chemicals. The thermoplastic polyurethane effectively absorbs shock and vibration.

rPETG
is suitable, for example, for components that come into contact with liquids, technical components, snap fasteners, long technical components, vases, drone housings, protective housings for electronic components and holders. The outstanding features of rPETG are its good printability and smooth surface. Thanks to its impressive mechanical properties, this versatile material is suitable for a wide range of applications.

rPLA
is suitable, for example, for miniatures, decorative items, fan items, spare parts, model making, toys, housings, cosplay props, prototypes and architectural models. The rPLA filament is particularly popular in the hobby sector. This material is inexpensive, easy to print, and available in a variety of colors.

rTitan
can be used for electrical items, sports equipment, precision mechanics (gears), wheels, toys, model making, pipes, computer keyboards and common household appliances such as sockets. rTitan is an extremely versatile material with outstanding mechanical properties. You can use it to print a variety of objects. The heat resistance and strength of rTitan are particularly impressive.
